Justin Jason Roberts

Born: December 29, 1979 in Chicago, IL

The following is provided by

Justin Jason Roberts was born an entertainer. From putting on shows at family functions to entertaining classmates in school, anyone who ever met Justin knew, without question, that one day they would be watching him on TV. Beginning his professional ring-announcing career at the age of 16, Justin worked in his hometown of Chicago for Pro Wrestling International.

In 1998 after a two year run, Justin left Chicago to attend The University of Arizona where he studied Media Arts and Communications.  His open class schedule allotted Justin the time to work with new independent pro-wrestling organizations, such as the American Wrestling Alliance.  In addition to excelling in the classroom and enjoying typical college life, Justin made the time to travel with AWA to increase his experiences, exposure and talents. Justin traveled throughout the country working with some of the top wrestling superstars of all time.

After meeting officials from The Toughman Contest, Art Dore, the founder of Toughman hired Justin as a backup announcer in 2000.  While working with numerous pro-wrestling organizations and Toughman, Justin built up his reputation and skills he knew he needed to make it to the top and in June of 2002, Justin received the call he had been waiting for.  World Wrestling Entertainment flew Justin out for two tryouts as a ring announcer. Hired the following September as "Jason Roberts", Justin currently works as a ring announcer for televised and non-televised events throughout the world.

In addition to ring announcing, Justin has dabbled in acting; appearing on TV for the Jerry Springer Show and in movies such as "Soul Food" and “Stuart Saves His Family.”

Justin Jason Fact Not Fiction:

*Justin has worked with Ring Announcers Howard Finkel, Tony Chimel, Lilian Garcia (WWE), Gary Michael Cappetta, David Penzer(WCW), and Bruce Buffer (UFC).

*Justin has held the WWE World Championship, Intercontinental Championship, World Tag-Team Championship, Women's Championship, WWE Championship, U.S. Championship, Cruiserweight Championship and WWE Tag-Team Championship belts...on his lap during matches :)

*Growing up, Justin became a wrestling fan at a time when his friends and classmates had 'grown out of their wrestling stage.'  Because of this, Justin's classmates would make fun of wrestling and direct their jokes towards him.  However when no one else was around, Justin would be the kid to approach with wrestling questions (see below).

*After signing with WWE and appearing on WWE television, Justin enjoyed returning home and hearing those kids say that they had seen him on  WWE t.v.  They must admit to watching now...

*Many people signed Justin's High School yearbook with messages about seeing him on t.v. in the future, he has come through for them.

*His High School (Class size around 500) superlatives were:

-Most likely to host a television show (Raw and Smackdown count, right?)

-Most likely to win an academy award

-Best at getting teacher off subject

*He was most impressed by the third, the other two added to the pressure of making everyone happy, and not letting anyone down.

*Although he appeared on Jerry Springer, his classmates did not vote for him to 'Most likely appear.'

*Justin was originally hooked on GLOW-Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling

*After catching 'Saturday Night's Main Event' in place of Saturday Night Live-Justin was hooked on WWE by a segment featuring Mr. Perfect, Hulk Hogan, Bobby Heenan, and The Genius.

*Justin was such a big fan of Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, that he learned to referee so he could work a tour with him.

*Thanks to working four nights in a row with ten matches each night featuring guys such as Mr Perfect, Public Enemy, Steve Keirn, Virgil, Road Warrior Animal, Brutus Beefcake, Navajo Warrior, Tatanka, Honky Tonk Man, Demolition AX, and The Bushwhackers to name a few---Justin got some great training in this field.

*His first announcing gig was for Sonny Rogers' PWI in Chicago-November of 1996.  He announced the 6 man tag-team match and a Battle Royal.  His work on this night and for the next two years could be considered the worst announcing in the history of professional wrestling :)
